Loffredo Fresh Produce promotes its strong commitment to food safety, product quality and a staff which is dedicated to its success.  The commitment to a strong food safety program is not only vital to company processes, it helps assure our customers and consumers that products processed Loffredo Fresh Produce are safe to eat.

Our commitment to food safety includes a comprehensive program containing fully developed programs such as Loffredo's:

  • Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)
  • Food Security and Bioterrorism Program
  • Recall Program
  • Environmental Monitoring Program

Prerequisites for these programs include but are not limited to:

  • Employee Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's)
  • Visitor GMP's
  • Building and transportation security
  • Pest control
  • Internal audits
  • Pre-operational inspections
  • Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP's)
  • A master cleaning program

HACCP
Our HACCP program was developed in accordance to the strict regulations which are found in the USDA Code of Federal Regulations Chapter 9, Part 417.  Its implementation at Loffredo Fresh Produce ensures that the program in place will meet and or exceed any HACCP expectations from any auditing or regulatory agency.  Loffredo's functional HACCP team consists of seven members that are officially trained and certified in HACCP.

Food Security and Bioterrorism Program
Loffredo's Food Security and Bioterrorism Program includes around the clock surveillance of both the external perimeter of the facility as well as the interior.  Employees must use their electronic identification badge to enter while visitors must check in and provide identification for access beyond certain points.  There is a locked security area for truck drivers and will call merchants who may need to enter the premises.

Recall Program
The Recall Program utilizes the entire company operation from purchasing to receiving and transportation to sales and helps to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of recall situations.  Loffredo Fresh Produce conducts mock recalls at least twice a year by an established recall team.

Environmental Monitoring Program
The Environmental Monitoring Program has been implemented companywide with the focus primarily on identifying Listeria species.  The program includes a documented plan for its implementation and is maintained with assistance and suggestions from an outside laboratory.

Third-party Audits
Loffredo Fresh Produce facilities are audited regularly by third-party auditing firms as well as Federal, state, and local government agencies.
