Since 1892, the cornerstone of our business has been providing a wide array of garden-fresh fruits and vegetables to restaurants and managed cafeterias. Through our other brands and partnerships, however, we have also become a specialty foods distributor that offers a wide variety of local and global goods.
We’ve been growing and distributing fresh fruits and vegetables for nearly 130 years. It’s key to our business. Apples and peaches, sweet corn and summer squash, cabbage and cucumber, potatoes and tomatoes...we have it. And more!
Fresh-cut produce — including our Hwy. 28 Farms brand of fruits, veggies, snack cups, bean dips, pico de gallo, and soups — are processed in our 50,000-sq.-ft. facility near Des Moines. The operation gives us reliable quality, space savings, reduced labor costs, increased sanitation, decreased food-safety liabilities, 100% product yield and sales growth. The facility is Safe Quality Food (SQF) Level 2 Certified, and adheres to strict food safety and quality guidelines.
In addition to produce, we offer ingredients and products from some of the most trusted names in the industry. From dry ingredients, nuts, fresh, dried spices and oil to eggs, dairy, cheese and more, we have it, and it makes us a more well-rounded and preferable distributor to our customers.
We offer hand-crafted, premium-quality spices, rubs and herbs that contain only the finest ingredients. They burst with vibrant colors and fragrant aromas, and they showcase an earthy array of sweet and savory flavors.
We’re proud of our ability to provide locally grown produce to our customers and we are committed to buying from local growers whose produce meets our high food safety and quality standards. We partner with growers in close proximity to our key markets in Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
Our USDA Kitchen provides a strategic opportunity to expand our grab-and-go line with items that complete a fast and convenient meal.
